Only one bidder: Sidrone wants to operate Maribor Airport

Interest in the concession for the operation of Maribor Airport, which was put out to tender by the Slovenian government, was kept within very narrow limits. According to the Ministry of Transport, there was only one bidder.

This is the Sidrone flight school. This should meet all the necessary conditions so that negotiations can be started. After this, the company is asked to submit a binding offer. It is therefore still open whether the contract will actually go to Sidrone.

The last attempt at leasing to an operator ended in fiasco. The Chinese SHS Aviation came up with downright megalomaniac plans and wanted to set up a real hub with the help of the revived but short-lived VLM. Nothing came of it, however, because the concession fees were also owed. In 2019, the 15-year management contract was terminated and since then Maribor Airport, which currently has no scheduled flights, has been run by the state again.
