AUA-KV: Ofner severely criticizes the Vida vote

Vienna airport director Günther Ofner is once again railing against the Vida union in his role as WKO specialist group chairman. He describes it as a “farce” that only union members are allowed to take part in the vote on the AUA collective agreement.

Ofner claims, among other things, that only a “small minority” of Austrian Airlines’ flying employees are members of the Vida union. This would result in the “vast majority” not being able to take part in the vote. Vienna's airport director, in his role as WKO specialist group chairman, also criticized the fact that, in his opinion, the cover letter was "manipulative" and that the voting period was too short.

“Apparently only Vida members, and therefore only a small minority overall, are allowed to decide on the future of their jobs; everyone else is not even asked. The fact that the AUA works council on board takes part in such a deceptive maneuver cannot be surpassed in terms of irresponsibility, because it has to represent the interests of all on-board employees. The text sent by the union for the voting process is also grossly manipulative and lacks any objectivity,” criticizes Ofner. “In the end, the vote not only has consequences for the Vida members, but for everyone. When it comes to striking, however, the Vida union does not differentiate, but then takes both the GPA union members and many non-members of the AUA hostage. Many Vida members in other companies, such as the airport and many service companies, are also affected. In the end, Vida harms thousands of its own members and takes others along with it! This is irresponsible.”
