Passenger numbers: Strong recovery in Burgas and Varna

The Bulgarian airports of Varna and Burgas together handled 3,1 million passengers last year. 72 airlines from Germany and abroad were active on site, offering a total of 121 destinations.

In a direct comparison with 2021, the Fraport subsidiary was able to increase by 59 percent. 1,48 million passengers flew from Varna. According to the airport, the destinations Sofia, London, Vienna, Berlin and Tel Aviv were in particularly high demand.

Burgas Airport was used by around 1,63 million travelers. In a direct comparison with 2021, it was possible to increase by 72 percent. The most popular destinations for passengers were: London, Warsaw, Prague, Katowice and Tel Aviv.
