Australian Oneworld member Qantas is confident that international flights to Downunder will be possible again from July 1, 2021. The carrier began sales for destinations in Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Tokyo, London, Dallas and Johannesburg.
Qantas suffers particularly badly from the extremely strict entry and quarantine regulations that were issued by the Australian government in the fight against the corona virus. International travel is largely prohibited until at least March 17, 2021. Only a few groups of people are allowed to enter. There are already easing in the direction of New Zealand.
According to local media reports, the management of the Oneworld member is betting that a certain vaccination rate will be achieved by mid-2021, so that international flight operations can be reactivated. The carrier announced towards the end of 2020 that only passengers who can prove a vaccination will be carried.
