The airline Qatar Airways feels discriminated against by the Australian authorities due to the fact that its request to increase flight frequencies was rejected. Company boss Akbar Al Baker describes this as “very unfair”.

The circumstances under which the request was rejected are certainly controversial. Allegedly, previous “underpants examinations” that Qatar Airways had allegedly carried out on flying staff in the past also played a role. At least politicians made a hint to this effect.

But the carrier is also angry for another reason. People feel they have been treated badly by Australia because they helped repatriate citizens during the coronavirus pandemic while other airlines suspended their services.
