Rescue failed: Flybe is wound up

The recently insolvent airline Flybe will most likely not be able to take off again, because the liquidators have announced that talks with interested parties have not been successful. Now the processing follows.

“Unfortunately, there were a number of difficult circumstances, including the 'use-it-or-lose-it' rules for slots, the complexity of European recognition of a potential temporary operating license and the high costs associated with maintaining the company's operating platform are, which meant that there was only a limited window of opportunity in which to chart a clear path forward. However, it is unfortunate that talks have now come to an end without an agreement being reached," said insolvency practitioner Mike Pike.

Flybe had to restart after less than a year file for bankruptcy again. Flight operations were stopped immediately. Finally, Air France-KLM and Lufthansa are said to be acquiring take-off and landing rights at Heathrow and Amsterdam-Schiphol have shown interest, but apparently nothing came of the talks.
