With the power of fire and water, the steam locomotive makes its rounds through the vast Graubünden. As in its early days, the Rhaetian Railway is also delighting visitors this autumn with its steam rides in charming old trains.

In autumn, train lovers immerse themselves in the wondrous world of the steam age on the Engadin / Albula steam trip. In autumn, the route between Samedan and Surava, which is harmoniously embedded in the landscape - a showpiece from the time of the railway pioneers and part of the Rhaetian Railway UNESCO World Heritage Site - offers a special natural spectacle. The vast mountain world of the Engadine appears particularly special there. Passengers have time to linger, explore and take photos during longer stays in the railway villages of Filisur and Bergün. The more than 100-year-old steam locomotive slowly starts moving at the train station in Samedan at the start of the Engadine steam trip. It takes three hours to Scuol-Tarasp. Stops are in Bever, Zernez and Ardez. After a break in Scuol-Tarasp, the return journey promises rail fans another special experience of the autumnal natural scenery.

With its traditional mountain routes, the Rhaetian Railway has been offering a range of extraordinary railway experiences in the Swiss region of Graubünden since 1889. The operation initially started with a route from Landquart to Klosters and today includes a total of 384 kilometers of railway network in the middle of the high mountains - part of the lines have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. With the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express, the Rhaetian Railway has brands that are known far beyond the borders of Switzerland.
