Rhaetian Railway is launching tours again

For the Rhaetian Railway, December is all about discovery: from December 10th to 18th, 2023, rail enthusiasts can explore the diversity of the Swiss canton for a whole day with three different ticket categories.

On a fascinating rail safari with the Grand Tour, the Small Tour - North and the Small Tour - South, the Rhaetian Railway connects the impressive Alpine landscape of Graubünden and the Engadine with the rich, cultural heritage of the region with unique comfort in the "Alvra" articulated train .

Big tour: Chur – Thusis – Filisur – St. Moritz – Vereina – Klosters – Landquart – Chur

Passengers discover the entire diversity of Graubünden on the big tour through the Swiss canton. The journey, on which passengers can get on and off as they wish, takes them on the Albula line from Chur towards St. Moritz. Over viaducts and through spiral tunnels, the train climbs more than 1.000 meters on the route, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its construction technology and lines. During a first stopover in Bergün, rail enthusiasts can learn more about the beginnings of Swiss railway construction at the Albula Railway Museum. From there we continue through the magical Engadine to the largest nature reserve in Switzerland with a national park in Zernez. From Zernez, the last part of the journey leads through the Vereina Tunnel and through the romantic-alpine Prättigau back to Landquart and Chur.

Short tour – North: Chur – Thusis – Filisur – Davos – Klosters – Landquart – Chur

Passengers experience the highlights of northern Graubünden on this short tour. The journey begins along the Albula Line through the RhB UNESCO World Heritage Site, which impresses with its impressive engineering buildings and viaducts. Shortly before Filisur, the train crosses the world-famous Landwasser Viaduct. The next stop is the highest city in Europe: Davos. During a stopover, culture enthusiasts can visit the Kirchner Museum, which is dedicated to the work of the Swiss expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in his hometown. Finally, the RhB takes its passengers via Klosters and through the romantic, alpine Prättigau back to Landquart and Chur.

Short tour – South: St. Moritz – Filisur – Davos – Klosters – Vereina – St. Moritz

The tour through the south of Graubünden starts in the world-famous town of St. Moritz. The train rolls through the RhB UNESCO World Heritage Site to Filisur via numerous viaducts and spiral tunnels on the Albula Line. The next stop on the route is Davos, the highest city in Europe. The journey continues through the Vereina Tunnel into the picturesque Engadine. There, around the town of Zernez, nature enthusiasts get their money's worth: in the only Swiss national park, ibexes, chamois, deer, marmots and bearded vultures can be observed in their natural environment. From Zernez, the RhB finally brings its guests back to St. Moritz.
