Sarajevo: Ryanair is negotiating the establishment of a base

Low-cost airline Ryanair has submitted a public tender to be the only airline to apply to set up a base in Sarajevo. A central requirement of the carrier should be that the airport can be approached around the clock in the future.

It is hoped that Ryanair will last longer than its competitor Wizz Air. This was able to assert itself in 2020, but the base was already closed in November 2022. The current tender was not limited to low costers. The number of aircraft to be stationed on site is also no longer subject to a minimum number.

Negotiations are currently underway between the Ryanair Group and the airport management. The construction of a base was also publicly advertised because the public sector distributes subsidies and also grants a certain exclusivity.
