As of today, the Lufthansa subsidiary, as part of the BlueIcareUs alliance, consisting of Swiss companies and organizations from the aviation and healthcare sectors, is testing another digital offer for checking test and vaccination records. This should make traveling easy and reliable for your passengers during the corona pandemic.
The international solution was developed with a view to developing a national and international vaccination and test certificate in cooperation with the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), the Federal Office for Information Technology and Telecommunications (BIT) and in coordination with the preparatory work for the "EU Green Certificate" developed by the Swiss startup Cyberfish.
Counterfeit-proof technology
Passengers can manage their vaccination and test certificates, which are transmitted from connected test centers and laboratories directly to their mobile devices, as a digital wallet. No app needs to be installed for this. In this way, customers can prove to airlines and authorities in a forgery-proof manner that they meet the entry requirements without disclosing personal health information. In addition, processes at airports are made more efficient and accelerated due to the encrypted barcode. According to the company, there are no data protection concerns
The airline will be testing the functionality of the new digital solution in the coming days; an implementation is planned for the third quarter of 2021. During the test phase, passengers must also carry the official health certificates according to the destination country.
So far, Swiss is already testing the IATA Travel Pass on the Zurich - London Heathrow route. In addition, on certain routes, passengers can upload their test certificates up to 12 hours before departure. These are then checked so that customers know whether they meet the requirements of the relevant authority before they leave.
