Romanian airline Tarom signed an order for three ATR72-600s at the Dubai Air Show. With the help of these turboprop aircraft, the ailing state carrier wants to modernize the fleet.
Tarom is a long-standing ATR customer and already has seven ATR42-500, two ATR72-500 and four ATR72-600 in their fleet. The new additions are intended to reduce the existing ATR42-400 fleet, because in the medium term the 72 model should become the smallest aircraft in the fleet.
At the moment it is the only operator of the Airbus A318 besides Air France, but not for long. Both Tarom and the French competitor will part ways with this pattern. The Romanian aviation company has put all four “baby buses” up for sale. The last Boeing 737-300 was also decommissioned last week.
