The financially troubled Thai Airways is slowly running out of air. For this reason, the airline is now pulling out all the stops.
Thai Airways is desperately fighting for survival. The flight operations of Thailand's state airline are on the back burner, just nine of a total of 61 Thai planes are currently registered as active. There does not seem to be an end in sight, especially since the corona situation is worsening in some countries despite the vaccination. That's why your own workforce has to believe in it: a total of 395 pilots would be kicked out of the door. This is reported by the aviation portal "Simple flying". With this, the airline wants to reduce the cost structure and slow down the decline.
In addition, the carrier is also turning the cost screw in other ways. So the fleet is to be reduced considerably. According to reports, the days of the A380 are numbered, and it looks like the superjumbos won't be returning. But this should mean the final end not only for the six A380s, the A330 planes are also at risk. They are "permanently grounded" - which in this case probably means something like: they will not come back. All in all, Thai is saying goodbye to 21 aircraft: 15 A330-300s (average age ten years) and six A380s (average age a good eight years). It is also not unlikely that other aircraft models could follow in the future.
