Travel insurance: The e-card does not cover everything

Europäische Reiseversicherung processes more than 45.000 claims per year: from damaged luggage to cancellations because a child became ill, to medical emergencies and repatriations from abroad.

Ideally, a vacation starts with getting enough information: about entry requirements (check the validity of your passport in good time!) and medical requirements, such as vaccinations. With their experience, travel agencies and tour operators are the first points of contact and also give recommendations for tourist sights in the holiday country.

Europäische Reiseversicherung supports its customers with the “travel information” from the sister company Europ Assistance, which also provides support in preparing for the holiday. In addition, it makes sense to save contact persons and emergency numbers in your mobile phone before you leave, so that you can react quickly if necessary.

According to the Europ Assistance holiday barometer, two thirds of the Austrians surveyed said they wanted to go to the sea on holiday. Anyone who has children knows that something can always happen.

Most medical incidents on vacation relate to gastrointestinal problems, skin changes and various viral and bacterial infections. My appeal to all parents: Don't hesitate to contact the travel doc, even if it seems like a small matter. It is better to have the first symptoms clarified immediately than to wait too long and risk the holiday.
