Surprise: Flixtrain wagons spotted behind steam locomotive

Is the private railway provider Flixtrain switching to steam locomotives due to high electricity prices? At least that's what one might assume based on a photo published by a railway specialist portal. After all, it shows wagons in Flix design behind a steam locomotive.

At least in the DA-CH region, steam trains - apart from special services - are now extremely rare. Even rarer to find: Flixtrain wagons that are coupled to a brown coal-loving steam locomotive. Is Flixtrain now relying on coal-fired boiling water due to high electricity prices?

Not at all, a spokesman for Flix SE makes it clear. With the help of an electric locomotive, the steam locomotive and the Flixtrain wagons were transferred together. In aviation, such a process would be called a “ferry flight”. They only shared the transfer with a historic steam locomotive.

“The photo shows a transfer journey, an electric locomotive transferred one of our cars and a steam locomotive. There’s actually nothing more to it,” a Flix spokesman told Aviation.Direct. By the way, the photo can be found under this link at Lok-Report.de.
