Venice is postponing the introduction of entry fees again

The last scheduled start date for the entry fee has been postponed again. Venice originally wanted to cash in from January 2023. Now the visitors should not pay until the summer of next year at the earliest in order to be allowed to enter the center of the lagoon city.

After the start date had been postponed four times, January 16, 2023 was the last set as the start date, but the final approval of the municipal council was still pending. This is still missing - first of all, the city wants to wait for the result of an online survey among citizens, who can submit their own proposals for the tourist fee until January 7, 2023. However, the entry fee as the method of choice raises concerns: tourists could behave even worse than before – after all, they would have paid for it.
