Vienna with 1,7 million overnight stays in July 2023

The net overnight turnover of Viennese accommodation providers in June this year was 119,3 million euros, 35% more than in the previous year. In the first half of the year, the companies generated more than half a billion euros in overnight sales.

Vienna's overnight stays are already certain for July: With 1,7 million (+18%), it contributes to the year to date. From January to July, 9,2 million overnight stays (+43%) were counted. Vienna closed July 2023 with 1.672.000 overnight stays and an increase of 18% compared to 2022. Between January and July, the federal capital recorded 9.177.000 overnight stays - that means an increase of 43% compared to the same period of the previous year. With 348.000 overnight stays (+22%), Germany leads the list of the top 10 markets in July, followed by Austria (266.000, +8%), the USA (117.000, +16%), Great Britain (62.000, +22% ), Italy (61.000, +19%), Spain (54.000, +21%), Poland (52.000, +10%), France (43.000, +18%), Israel (42.000, +22%) and Switzerland ( 35.000, +14%).

The net overnight turnover of Vienna's accommodation facilities in June was EUR 119.289.000 - this corresponds to an increase of 35% compared to the same month in 2022. In the period from January to June, the establishments were able to generate EUR 511.715.000 - 70% more than in the same period of the previous year. The average occupancy of the rooms in July was around 78% (7/2022: around 71%), that of the hotel beds 62% (7/2022: 56%). In the year to date (January to July), room occupancy was around 64% (1-7/2022: around 50%), bed occupancy around 51% (1-7/2022: 40%). A total of around 69.600 hotel beds were available in Vienna in July - that was 2.300 beds (+3,4%) more than were offered in the same month of 2022.
