Westbahn has joined the VOR

The private train company Westbahn joined the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion with effect from August 1, 2023. As a result, VOR tickets between Vienna and Amstetten are now also recognized.

Before that, the relationship between Westbahn and Verkehrsverbund Ostregion had been tense for a number of years. Now they seem to have reached an agreement. The VOR offer is to be expanded by around 21.000 train journeys per year.

We are pleased that by joining the VOR we can now also offer people in the eastern region a pleasant travel experience in our modern double-decker trains. In terms of ecological sustainability, we hope that we will also create an incentive for everyone who does not travel by train every day to switch from car to rail on as many occasions as possible", say the two Westbahn managing directors Thomas Posch and Florian Kazalek.
