The Japanese All Nippon Airways is postponing the comeback at Vienna Airport in Austria. After several postponements, the aim was to reactivate the Tokyo route at the beginning of the winter flight planning period 2021/22. The appointment again does not.
The ANA route has been paused since the beginning of the corona pandemic in Europe. The times for reactivation were repeatedly postponed. The comparatively tough entry and quarantine regulations in Japan are decisive. These are practically impossible to meet for non-citizens.
A representative of All Nippon Airways told Aviation Direct that the question of whether the Vienna route will be resumed would not arise. It's more about the “when”. It is hoped that Japan will relax the travel rules.
ANA is currently planning to fly between Tokyo and Vienna from January 2022. Initially, the plan is to have three weekly circuits, which are to be carried out on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. However, the carrier cannot give a one hundred percent guarantee that this deadline will be met. Much continues to depend on the further development of the corona pandemic and the associated entry and quarantine regulations. It is therefore still necessary to wait for the ANA comeback at Austria's largest airport.
