In a media release, the low-cost airline Wizz Air claims that in the 2023 financial year it was possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by eleven percent compared to the previous period. The carrier calls itself “Europe's fastest growing and most sustainable airline worldwide”.

The company refers to its own sustainability report, but the claims are not verified by independent bodies. Carbon dioxide emissions are expected to be around 53,8 grams per passenger kilometer in the current fiscal year. "This is the lowest result Wizz Air has ever achieved in a financial year and the lowest result among the competition," claims the low coster.
