The low-cost airline Wizz Air now also flies between Hamburg and Sofia. The non-stop connection to the capital of Bulgaria has thus returned to the route network from the Hanseatic city after a long break.

In addition to Sofia, the airline has eight other Eastern European destinations in its program. With Kutaisi in Georgia, Wizz Air will also be flying to a completely new destination from Hamburg from June 2023. "More than ever, people feel the need to be able to visit relatives and friends living abroad again - Wizz Air, as the largest provider of Eastern European flights from Hamburg, now offers even more options. We are all the more pleased that with Sofia we can now offer our passengers another important direct destination that has not been directly connected to Hamburg for a long time," says Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport.
