In the dispute over higher salaries for Austrian Airlines' flying staff, the tourism division of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce is supporting the Lufthansa subsidiary. A broadcast highlights, among other things, the “damage to the company’s image” that is said to have been caused by the strikes and company meetings.

“An internationally successful aviation hub in Vienna is important for the entire tourism and business location of Austria. Anyone who willfully destroys this is putting value creation and thousands of jobs at risk,” comments Robert Seeber, chairman of the federal tourism department, on the current tense situation surrounding the AUA collective agreement negotiations.

“For domestic travel agencies, flight cancellations due to strikes mean considerable additional expense that is not compensated. In the current situation, our customers have the clear advantage of having a contact person in their travel agency who can quickly take care of everything they need," emphasizes Gregor Kadanka, chairman of the travel agency association, and adds: "Good transport connections and Accessibility is a crucial prerequisite for incoming tourism, but of course also for business travel and conference tourism.”

It would therefore be grossly negligent to endanger the continued existence of the AUA and thus Vienna Airport as Austria's largest aviation hub, the two tourism representatives appeal for a quick and constructive solution in the interests of Austria as a tourism and aviation location before the next round of negotiations.
