Zurich citizens have to vote on planned slope extensions

In the cantonal parliament of Zurich, the intended extension of runways 28 and 32 at Zurich Airport found a majority in the first attempt. However, a referendum must now be held.

Zurich Airport welcomes the decision of the MPs, who voted 87 to 83 in favor of extending the runways. Two elected officials abstained from voting. However, enough parliamentarians also voted to hold a referendum. The citizen has the last word. The referendum is expected to take place next year.
