Ultra long distance with a mask? This is exactly what will be possible on the Singapore-New York route from November 9, 2020, because Singapore Airline will reactivate this route, which has been paused since March 23, 2020. The extremely long flight connection is served by the Airbus A350-900ULR.

However, the carrier accepts some compromises due to the current corona situation. A maximum of 250 passengers are carried in three classes. It offers 184 economy seats, 24 premium eco seats and 42 business class seats. Singapore Airlines assumes in a media statement that full capacity utilization will not be achieved due to the current market situation.

Nevertheless, the airline calculates tightly: With the help of freight, the connection could still pay off. There is currently a very high demand in the cargo sector, which Singapore Airlines intends to take advantage of on this route. It is therefore also new that flights are no longer served to New York Newark, but to New York John F. Kennedy. This even extends the flight distance by 2,5 nautical miles. The reason for the move is that JFK is better suited for cargo handling.
