Pan American Airways, or Pan Am for short, ensured the flight connection between Nuremberg and Berlin in the post-war years, as no flights by German airlines were allowed due to the Four Power Agreement.

The airline founded by aviation icon Juan T. Trippe in 1927 began operating in Nuremberg in 1958 and commuted to Berlin until 1991. In the meantime, the airline flew with the well-known logo and the callsign "Clipper" from Nuremberg to Brussels, London and via Frankfurt even to New York. There were also three aircraft that were christened “Clipper Nürnberg”. In the fall of 1991 - 30 years ago - the legendary Pan Am flew to the Franconian metropolis for the last time.
