The German pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit considers the closure of practical pilot training in Bremen to be “a slap in the face for all employees”. Lufthansa announced on Wednesday that this know in Rostock-Laage should be carried out.
“Lufthansa's decision is a slap in the face for all employees in Bremen. We consider it to be a serious mistake, as the group suffers a tremendous loss of quality and competence that can no longer simply be made up for. It is completely incomprehensible to us why this - in the best sense of the word - management school is now bleeding to death, ”said Markus Wahl, Chairman of the VC. “The current crisis is not the actual motivation, but just a pretext for Lufthansa’s approach. Everything is being done here for a collective bargaining flight that should be pushed through against the employees regardless of the Corona crisis. We see the collective bargaining partnership so gladly and often invoked by the company trampled underfoot and condemn this approach in the strongest possible terms ”.
Well over 100 student pilots have already filed a lawsuit against Lufthansa. Even with the Cargo daughter grinds it meanwhile, because this is to be reduced, but at the same time it is planned that the participation in Aerologic could grow. Switching from the cargo cockpit to that of the passenger A340 will most likely not be possible as this pattern will not have a long future.
“It is a corporate strategy that a non-tariff platform is set up in competition with every tariff operation. We see this not only in pilot training, but also in the Ocean project for passenger flights and in the cargo sector, in which Aerologic operates alongside Lufthansa Cargo, ”said Wahl, who believes the latest decisions by the top management are a frontal attack on the collective bargaining partnership.
