In the future, the airline Swiss will work in the field of catering with the family company Confiserie Sprüngli, which is known for chocolate products. The products for buy-on-board catering are to be manufactured according to their recipes.
In contrast to Austrian Airlines, Swiss will continue to offer free water. To this end, they created their own brand, which comes from the Glarus Alps. Swiss will call the fee-based catering “Swiss Saveurs” in future.
In the economy class, this will be introduced on all short and medium-haul flights to / from Zurich from March 30, 2021. Snacks, sandwiches, baked goods, salads, mueslis and other dishes are offered against payment. Paid catering is scheduled to start in Geneva on April 28, 2021. For flights of less than 50 minutes there will only be a free bottle of water.
According to Swiss, the price of the dishes should be between three and 12 Swiss francs. The focus is on regional products. The chocolate piece should continue to be distributed free of charge. Also Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines will in future charge for food and drinks on short and medium-haul routes. At AUA there are - in contrast to the sister companies - not even water without payment.
