Will the proverbial battle for space in the overhead bin at Austrian Airlines soon come to an end? Due to the corona pandemic, the carrier is checking the mandatory task at the check-in counter.
Austrian Airlines is currently working on a security concept for the restart. This could also mean that in the future classic pieces of hand luggage will also have to be checked in at the counter and only the most essential items may be taken into the cabin. There are corresponding considerations, confirmed a spokeswoman.
However, nothing is fixed yet. According to the company, all processes relating to the subject of "physical distancing" are currently being scrutinized. This also applies to the stowing of hand luggage. Working groups are currently evaluating various options. Austrian Airlines wants to present the "Corona security concept" in good time before the restart. There could therefore be changes for passengers, although currently only the mask requirement appears to be fixed, as this is required by law.
