The demand in domestic German air traffic could collapse even further due to the current Corona situation. A survey by the Verband Deutsches Reisemanagement (Association of German Travel Management) has shown that 76 percent of those questioned are increasingly using the car for business trips instead of flights or trains. This is apparently perceived as safer in the “motorist nation of Germany”.
But in larger companies in particular, people seem to give a lot of thought to how the possible loss of top employees can be prevented. This also has consequences for the demand in domestic German travel, because according to the VDR survey, only 18 percent of companies allow unrestricted business travel within Germany. The vast majority of the companies surveyed stated that there are restrictions and even prohibitions, especially if the destination is a risk area defined by the Robert Koch Institute.
However, it is also exciting to look at another question that the VDR asked: The participating travel managers of the companies stated that they are only partially satisfied with the Corona measures. They also found massive differences between the individual airlines. With 59 percent rejection, Deutsche Bahn received particularly poor numbers for approval of the good implementation of safety and hygiene measures.
