The airline Austrian Airlines expects around 430.000 passengers in the period around Christmas and New Year. In a direct comparison with the same period last year, the company says it was able to attract around 15 percent more bookings.
“Austrian Airlines connects Austria with the world. We see this once again on the holidays, when our passengers from all over the world fly home to their loved ones or on vacation together. Interest in traveling has increased even further compared to last year and we expect 15% more passengers around Christmas and New Year’s Eve this year,” explains Chief Commercial Officer Michael Trestl.
On long-haul flights, the carrier will serve business class passengers a special aperitif called Miss Rosy between December 22, 2023 and January 1, 2024. This is a long drink based on a regionally produced Schilcher vermouth. The vermouth from a young Styrian winemaker is refined with tonic, lemon and fresh rosemary and offers a celebratory start to the culinary journey with Austrian Airlines.
This year, Austrian Airlines is expected to transport even more passengers for Christmas and New Year's Eve than last year. Around 130.000 passengers are expected on the Christmas weekend alone and around 100.000 on the New Year's Eve weekend. Bookings exceed the previous year's figures by 15 percent, which means that a significantly higher number of passengers can be expected.
Bremen and Tbilisi new in summer 2024
With Tbilisi and Bremen, Austrian Airlines is adding two more destinations to its 2024 summer flight schedule. The destination in Germany will initially be served four times a week from May 6, 2024. It will go to Tbilisi three times a week from May 1, 2024. In addition to the additional destinations Bremen and Tbilisi, there is also another change in the 2024 summer flight schedule, as Bari will now be regularly flown to twice instead of just once a week. “We are also expanding our route network in the summer flight schedule in 2024 and thus the offering for our guests. Demand and the desire to travel are increasing and so we are constantly expanding our flight destinations. Whether the flight from Vienna to the Bremen Town Musicians or to the beautiful Georgian old town on the Kura, Austrian Airlines will continue to take our passengers directly from Vienna to their destination next year with the usual Austrian hospitality,” says CCO Michael Trestl.
