It wasn't that long ago that the ATR42 and ATR72 aircraft were the backbone of CSA's fleet. The carrier is now only a shadow of its former self. Now a plane that was previously in the service of the Czech carrier has been converted into a freighter.
Even before the Corona pandemic, CSA was shrinking year after year. The crisis literally left the traditional company dead, as it had to file for bankruptcy. The ownership structure has changed because it is now not a subsidiary of Smartwings, but a sister company.
The comeback is still on the back burner, because it has been announced that the company will be expanding again with new A220 jets, but not much has happened yet. After all: CSA is in the air, albeit on a very small scale.
In 2021 the ATR72 turboprops were also separated. This also affected the then OK-GFS, which was leased from ASL Aviation Holding. The aircraft, which is now over 22 years old, was returned to the Lessor. He had the former passenger aircraft converted into a freighter and registered it in the United Kingdom as G-OASB. The new operator is now the group company ASL Airlines UK, which is mainly known for cargo services. According to CH-Aviation.com, it is said to be the British provider's first ATR72-500F.
