The recovered status in Germany has been reduced to three months – the Ministry of Health justifies this with the new virus variant Omikron.

The background is that due to the prevailing omicron variant, there is a much greater risk of becoming ill after this time or of being a carrier. The previous period of six months was valid as long as you had to deal with the Delta variant in particular. This reclassification has serious effects on entry from so-called high-risk areas and thus also on entry from Austria: If a corona disease was more than 90 days ago, you are no longer considered to have recovered and you have to go into quarantine. In contrast, people who have been vaccinated twice may enter the country unconditionally for up to nine months after the second dose.

Specifically, the pure recovered status is now recognized if, firstly, the positive test with which the diseases were diagnosed was at least 28 days ago and, secondly, if the disease was no more than 90 days in the past. “Net” the recovered status would apply for a good two months, as reported by fvw.de.
