In the 2024 summer flight schedule, the youngest offshoot of the Lufthansa Group, City Airlines, will initially take off with an Airbus A319. For the time being, the aircraft will fly under the “Lufthansa City” brand from the Munich hub.

In the long term, City Airlines will operate the Airbus A220 aircraft. Some time ago it was a corresponding order has been announced by Airbus Canada. 20 copies were ordered and at the same time the Kranich Group secured options for another 20 units. After Swiss, “Lufthansa City” will be the second A220 operator within the group.

In the summer of 2024, City Airlines will initially serve the destinations Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hanover, Birmingham, Bordeaux and Manchester from Munich. According to the announcement, the network will then be gradually expanded to other destinations in Europe. The same product is offered on board as the Mainline or its sister company Cityline. Initially, four Airbus A319s will be used in the colors of City Airlines. From the end of April 2024, the flights will be available to book via all channels.

City Airlines is a newly founded regional airline of the Lufthansa Group. This can also be seen as a kind of clone of the Lufthansa Cityline, which has existed for many years. The primary aim is to provide feeder services to the Munich and later also Frankfurt am Main hubs for the parent company.
