The low-cost airline Ryanair has opened another maintenance location at Nuremberg Airport. According to the company, around five million euros are being invested and around 100 technicians are employed on site.
The hangar used by Ryanair is approximately 3.700 square meters in size and has two positions for maintaining the aircraft used by the group airlines. “For Nuremberg Airport, the opening of a Ryanair maintenance base means an important strengthening of our location. “With Ryanair’s decision to select Nuremberg as the Ryanair Engineering location with its own hangar, the airport will continue to gain in importance as one of the important workplaces in the metropolitan region with over 4.000 jobs,” said airport managing director Michael Hupe.
In the 2023/24 winter flight schedule, Ryanair will offer 14 destinations from Nuremberg. Among other things, Lanzarote is now also served. In addition, weekly frequencies will be increased on other existing routes such as Alicante, London, Thessaloniki and Tenerife. The carrier currently has two aircraft permanently stationed in Nuremberg.

This new €5 million operation will create 100 highly skilled jobs for the Nuremberg region, including licensed engineers, mechanics and support staff who will support the maintenance of the Ryanair fleet as we expand to over 2026 aircraft by 600 and 2034 by 800 Aircraft will grow,” said Ryanair Chief Operations Officer Neal McMahon.
