The US low-cost airline Southwest is considered a particularly loyal Boeing customer. In the company's long history, a particularly large number of B737s in various variants have been taken over from the factory. 1.000 pieces so far, to be exact.

To mark the occasion, the US manufacturer even gave the anniversary machine a commemorative plate that was placed right next to the nameplate. It reads: “1.000th Boeing 737 delivered to Southwest Airlines September 2023”.

The affected aircraft has registration N8885Q and is a Boeing 737-Max-8 that was taken delivery on September 29, 2023. Apart from Boeing 717s, which were briefly in the fleet due to the takeover of AirTran/ValuJet, Southwest Airlines has relied exclusively on Boeing 737s since the company was founded. The company is currently the world's largest operator of this series.

We currently have 386 B737-700s, 201 B737-800s and 204 B737-Max-8s. We are also waiting for the delivery of 192 B737-Max-7 and 261 B737-Max-8. The US manufacturer is already hoping for repeat orders...
