Switzerland is also known for high-precision watch movements. To date, no clock has ever been assembled above the clouds. That changed on October 18, 2023, when on board a Swiss flight from Geneva to New York, a crew member assembled a Swiss timepiece under the supervision and guidance of a master watchmaker.

The watch will be on display at the Watches of Switzerland boutique in Soho from October 18th to 22nd during the New York leg of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. During a Swiss flight from Geneva to New York, a Swiss watch was assembled in an improvised watch workshop at an altitude of 10.000 meters to demonstrate the precision, skill and know-how of the Geneva watch industry. The watch was assembled by a Swiss crew member under the supervision of an external master watchmaker. The unique timepiece will now be presented together with the 84 watches from the official preselection of the GPHG traveling exhibition in the Watches of Switzerland boutique in New York to demonstrate Swiss excellence.

Romain Vetter, Head of Western Switzerland at Swiss, adds: “Assembling a watch at 10.000 meters is the combination of Swiss quality and reliability. “Swiss is pleased to have made this top-class assembly possible.”
