The Maltese Smartlynx offshoot Smartlynx Malta will shortly put the first Airbus A321F into service. Since this type of aircraft is not offered as a cargo aircraft ex works, it is a conversion of a passenger aircraft.

The 9H-CGA is currently at Luqa Airport and is being prepared by SR Technics Malta for its first commercial use as a freighter. In future, the medium-haul jet is to fly from Leipzig / Halle on behalf of Deutsche Post-DHL. According to reports, this type of machine will also be a regular guest at Linz-Hörsching Airport.

This Airbus A321 was originally delivered to Swissair in 1998. After the collapse of SAirGroup, the passenger aircraft found its way to Swiss. From 2004 the medium-haul jet flew for Air Mediterranee. This year the conversion to a cargo plane was tackled and is almost completely completed. Since the machine is operated for DHL, both the logo of the Deutsche Post subsidiary and the new “Smartlynx Cargo” logo can be found on the fuselage. It is the first machine to bear this title. In addition, there is also a large sticker on environmental protection from the front area.
