The airline Aegean Airlines is now the majority owner of the Romanian Animawings. The Greek group increased the 25 percent stake to 51 percent and thus controls the company.

Shortly before the start of the corona pandemic, the two carriers announced a strategic partnership. In the course of this, Aegean took a 25 percent stake in Animawings. In the upcoming summer flight schedule of 2022, the Romanian company is to operate three aircraft on behalf of Aegean. According to the current information, these should be moved from mother to daughter.

It cannot be ruled out that Animawings could fly on a larger scale for Aegean in the future. So far, the focus has been primarily on charter flights, but the lower costs are likely to be of interest to the Greek carrier.
