In cooperation with the airports of Paris-Charles de Gaulle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, Air France is testing a new app solution to make it easier for passengers to enter the country. Such a procedure has been running on the routes to Pointe-à-Pitre and Fort-de-France since March 15, 2021.

The PCR tests carried out in a partner laboratory are displayed in the ICC AOK Pass app. Thanks to a partnership between Air France, MedAire / International SOS, Groupe ADP, San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airports, customers who test the app will benefit from special airport channels with priority access when boarding and passport control upon arrival in Paris.

This program complements the program launched by Air France on March 11, 2021 on flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) and Fort-de-France (Martinique) in the French Caribbean. It is completely free for customers and is carried out exclusively on a voluntary basis in the following four steps:

  • The customer downloads the ICC AOK Pass mobile app available in the App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei App Store and carries out the required PCR or LAMP test (in accordance with the regulations applicable to the target in question) in one of the partner laboratories.
  • After the test has been carried out, the laboratory provides the customer with the results in a PDF document and a QR code, which can be securely downloaded into the ICC AOK Pass app.
  • At the airport, on the day of departure, special signs direct the customer to a certain lane while boarding. When travel documents are verified, customers display the QR code displayed on their smartphone as evidence of their negative Covid-19 status instead of a paper certificate. The ICC AOK Pass then confirms that the test submitted is valid and complies with the regulations of the country of destination via a network secured by blockchain technology.
  • Upon arrival in Paris, customers will see the same specific signage and benefit from priority access when they go through passport control and re-view the QR code in the AOK Pass app.

“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, we have been calling for a global health standard. This new experimental program is an example of what could become the standard for travel document verification in the future and we are excited to be implementing it with Air France partners. Cooperation between governments, airlines and airport authorities is essential to find solutions that combine health security with a smooth travel experience, ”said Alain Bernard, Chief Operating Officer of Air France.
