The Croatian government wants to invest heavily in the state-owned Croatia Airlines. An important part of the plans, which have yet to be approved by Parliament, is the renewal of the fleet. The aircraft manufacturer Airbus began to prick up their ears.

Specifically, they want to make the model A220 palatable and to do this, a plane is flying to Zagreb for presentation purposes in the coming week. Croatia Airlines has been a potential customer for this model for some time. However, it is currently unclear whether the interest is in the A220-100 or rather the A220-300.

What is certain, however, is that the carrier no longer wants to accept four A320neo and is in negotiations with Airbus on this. It should therefore be entirely in the interests of the aircraft manufacturer to make a tasty offer for the A220 series. A spokesman for Croatia Airlines told Ex-Yu-Aviation: “The negotiations on the termination agreement, which will lead to the cancellation of the A320neo order and the use of the deposit for other Airbus services, are currently on hold due to Covid-19 will be resumed as soon as possible ”.

The government intends to replace the A319 and A320 aircraft with more modern models in the next few years. It is still open whether these will be bought or leased. The Dash 8 fleet is - at least for now - not up for discussion.
