Alitalia, which is scheduled for closure, has decommissioned the only Boeing 777-300ER, the EI-WLA. This machine has been used as a so-called preighter for cargo flights since May 2020.
The long-haul aircraft is 12,4 years old and has been leased from AerCap. According to CH-Aviation.com, the EI-WLA was used commercially for the last time on June 30, 2021. A few days ago the jet was flown to Shannon and returned to the Lessor.
Alitalia still has ten Boeing 777-200ERs, of which only about half are in use due to the corona pandemic. The successor ITA does not want to take over any machines of this type, but only seven out of ten Airbus A330-200s from Alitalia stocks.
