Formally, Fly Armenia Airways is no longer an airline, as the civil aviation authority of Armenia revoked the company's AOC and operating license on Monday. The reason for the measure is that safety-related deficiencies have been identified.

The start-up caused a stir in February 2021, because, contrary to the flight plan submitted, the company did not fly to Ukraine to have maintenance work carried out there, but landed in Iran. A local airline has already announced this aircraft as a new addition to its fleet. In the end, the matter was obviously too hot and the machine was brought back under considerable pressure from the government of Armenia.

The civil aviation authority initiated a formal investigation and wanted to know how it can be that one deviated so roughly from the submitted flight plan and ended up in Iran. No exact details have yet been published by the official bodies, but the official notification, in which the withdrawal of the AOC and operating license was announced, states that blatant violations were found in the course of the investigation. These are safety-relevant and on top of that, Fly Armenia Airways cannot fly due to the lack of alternative aircraft. The authority expressly emphasizes that the investigation in connection with the Iran excursion has not yet been concluded.
