The national airline of Austria Austrian Airlines was able to carry out its flight operations for the first time in 2023 without corona restrictions. This can also be seen in the half-year figures, in which the airline was able to point to significant progress.

The Corona crisis caused problems for numerous sectors, including air traffic and the airlines involved, such as Austrian Airlines. However, the Austrian airline Austrian Airlines was able to start the financial year this year without COVID restrictions. However, this is also noticeable, as can be seen in the half-year figures.

The numbers at a glance

Austria's national carrier was able to expand its turnover to EUR 664 million in the second half of the year, which corresponds to an increase of 39 percent. In the second quarter of the previous year, the carrier was able to generate sales of 478 million euros. The airline was also able to maintain the upward trend in terms of total revenues. Total revenues in the period in question amounted to 680 million euros, compared to 501 million euros in the same period last year, which corresponds to an improvement of 36 percent. The most important key figure to show the development of the airline is the adjusted EBIT. This was 88 million euros in the second quarter of the year, compared to just 3 million euros in the previous year.

The year 2023 can also stand out noticeably in a direct comparison of the half-years 2022 and 2023. Sales in the first half of 2023 amount to 1,064 billion euros, which corresponds to an increase of 57 percent compared to the previous half year. In the first half of 1, sales amounted to 2022 million euros. Total revenues were also able to improve by 678 percent: total revenues in the current half year of 54 amount to 2023 billion euros, compared to 1,093 million euros in the same period last year. As mentioned earlier, the adjusted EBIT is the most meaningful key figure, which also speaks its own language here. The adjusted EBIT in the first half of 709 was EUR 2023 million, in the first half of 15 the airline had to accept a negative adjusted EBIT of EUR 2022 million.

Austrian Airlines is European champion

In the first half of 1, the Austrian airline was able to call its own numerous successes, including at European level. The airline was named the most punctual airline in February and March. In June, however, they were also able to wear a new title: The “Best Airline Staff in Europe”. With this prize, the entire staff of Austrian Airlines was chosen as the best flight staff in Europe.
