The Austrian Airlines Boeing 767 fleet is definitely no longer young and was only significantly reduced this year. There is no replacement in sight and now these machines are being expanded to include the so-called premium economy class.

This is located between business and economy class and is intended to offer passengers who are willing to pay a surcharge a little more comfort. In the course of the announcement about the installation of said class of carriage, Austrian Airlines did not miss the opportunity to once again adorn itself with the word “Premium”. Regardless of this, at least in the economy, a product is offered that - apart from small details - is congruent with that of the low-cost competitors.

From spring 2022, 767 premium economy seats are to be available in Austrian Airlines' Boeing 30s. The conversion of the Austrian Boeing 767 fleet will be carried out in the first quarter of 2022. With the summer flight schedule of 2022, the three B767 planes, which primarily serve destinations in North America, will fly in the new cabin configuration.

“As an Austrian airline, we have 'Premium' in our hearts. With the expansion of Premium Economy Class, we want to offer even more passengers greater travel comfort on long-haul routes, ”says Sales Director Michael Trestl. “This travel class appeals to all those who want a bit more comfort and service on long-haul trips and still want to travel in a price-conscious manner. This means that the travel experience can be individually designed for each passenger and the feel-good factor on board is increasingly optimized. "

The redesign of the cabin of the Boeing 767 fleet can also be seen as a clear indication that Austrian Airlines will be using this type of aircraft for many years to come. In the summer of 2021 there were rumors that at least four Boeing 787-9s should be received in the foreseeable future. These have not only proven to be smoke and mirrors, but have not been confirmed by Lufthansa or Austrian Airlines at any time.
