It should be even safer. Huawei Austria is at your side as a partner in this project.

From starting the engines to leaving Austrian airspace, it is necessary to control the flow of traffic safely and efficiently. An exchange of data in real time from take-off to landing is crucial for safe flight operations. The quality and reliability of a network must be given continuously in order to maintain communication between ground and air control.

Because: network delays that affect contact can have serious consequences. Supported by the latest technology, the Austro Control air traffic controllers guide the aircraft into the correct airspace and ensure that they keep a safe distance from one another.

Optix OSN1800 OTN platform: technology for the future of air traffic control

In response to the growing network requirements, Austro Control has planned to set up a high-performance WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) transmission network that will connect all of the main locations. Huawei was able to offer a comprehensive and "tailor-made" solution. With the “Intelligent OptiX Network”, the global technology company is a world leader in this area.

Securing the airspace with better transmission capacity

"Huawei has provided a 100 Gbit / s high-speed transmission network with low latency and an extremely reliable WDM network in order to support Austro Control in the efficient and secure transmission and management of its traffic data," it says in the broadcast. The new network helps to increase the speed of real-time information updates and to transfer large amounts of information at very high speeds.

"The new solution with the high transmission capacity makes it possible for us to ensure the safe handling of air traffic at an optimal price / performance ratio“, Explains Manfred Nedoma, Team Manager Network & Carrier Service at Austro Control. The new Optix OSN1800 OTN platform is - last but not least - also particularly environmentally friendly.
