The Berlin-Brandenburg Airport proved to be the biggest loss-maker in the finances of the State of Berlin last year. The airport wrote a report in the amount of 391 million euros. The city holds a 37 percent stake.

On Tuesday, Berlin's Senator for Finance Matthias Kollatz (SPD) presented the participation report for 2020. 48 of the 55 state-owned companies and holdings were in the black. But not the airport. The amount of the loss is not only attributed to the corona pandemic, but also to the horrendous construction costs. BER officially went online at the end of October last year. Berlin-Brandenburg Airport received a grant of 111 million euros due to the corona pandemic.
