The Brazilian airline Gol plans to add another Boeing 737 Max 8 to its fleet. The carrier will purchase 28 more copies. 15 units are taken over from leasing companies.
The new additions are intended to replace a total of 23 Boeing 737-800s. The other machines should cover the planned growth. Deliveries of this order are scheduled to start at the end of 2022. Gol is currently taking over machines from the Max series non-stop, as the sub-fleet is to be expanded from 12 to 28 units by the end of this year.
The Brazilian carrier expects that after the end of the corona pandemic there will be a very sharp increase in demand. At the same time, one wants to reduce the operating costs with fuel-efficient aircraft. Incidentally, nine Boeing 737 Max 8s, which are included in the new order, are sold straight from the factory, because sale-and-leaseback deals have been signed with leasing companies for these. The remaining four copies are financed through loans.
