The Swedish regional airline BRA has now received a state loan guarantee. This was received on December 31, 2020 and amounts to around 19,85 million euros. Flight operations had to be suspended in April 2020 for financial reasons.

Sweden guarantees 90 percent of the total loan volume. BRA receives the guarantee from the same pot as its competitor SAS. The carrier started extensive restructuring as part of insolvency proceedings under Swedish law, which, according to its own statements, was largely completed in September 2020. In this context, 580 employees lost their jobs. The restart should take place with only 20 percent of the workforce. Initially, they want to serve six to seven routes within Sweden. The restart is planned for the first quarter of 2021.

But BRA has a completely different problem because the home base could be closed. The airport operator Swedavia is aiming to close Stockholm-Bromma. This is used by the regional airline and is the one that is particularly close to the center. The last word, however, has not yet been spoken.
