According to the latest information, the regional bank is being wound up and closed.

According to customers of the Commerzialbank Mattersburg im Burgenland AG, numerous airline and airport employees in Burgenland are affected by the official measures issued by the financial market supervisory authority. Business operations are currently prohibited by decision of the FMA. This means that no banking transactions (e.g. deposits, withdrawals, transfers, direct debits, ATM withdrawals or ATM and credit card payments) are permitted. To put it simply: the affected customers cannot dispose of their money at the moment.

According to Governor Hans-Peter Doskozil, the Commerzialbank Mattersburg im Burgenland AG will not be continued. The company is now being wound up and liquidated. The law stipulates that from today onwards, customers must be compensated up to 15 euros within 100.000 days. Once the application has been submitted, the deadline is even reduced to seven days.

The ORF Burgenland reports, citing the financial market supervisory authority, that the financial situation of the Commerzialbank is said to be "dramatic". For this reason, the state deposit insurance was set in motion immediately. There are also serious criminal allegations against the board of directors of the regional bank, with reference to the presumption of innocence. The Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office is already investigating.
