Travel restrictions. Often labeled as an industry killer, a study in 181 countries has now shown that such measures are quite effective against the spread of corona.

According to this, countries that already imposed entry restrictions in February or early March had significantly fewer corona deaths to complain about by the middle of the year, as in Reuters is to be read. Countries that introduced travel restrictions later or not at all show up to 60 percent more deaths.

This means that the claims of the World Health Organization and the EU that the virus “cannot be stopped by border closings” are unfounded and vanished into thin air. The opposite is the case. “Travel restrictions should be given much greater weight. This applies to the containment of impending waves of the current pandemic, but also to similar pandemics in the future, ”says Ruud Koopmans, Director at the Berlin Science Center for Social Research.
