Croatia Airlines has flown a loss of EUR 13,1 million in the first nine months of the current year. The shortfall is thus significantly higher than in the same period of 2019, which ended with a minus of 6,5 million euros.

In a direct comparison with the same period of the previous year, the loss has fallen. Between January and the end of September 2021, there was a deficit of 22,2 million euros. Most recently, Croatia Airlines was able to benefit from the strong summer of 2022. The third quarter of 2022 was positive at EUR 8,6 million. The carrier expects that the full year 2022 will be burdened with about 23 million euros due to high fuel prices.

In the first nine months of the current year, Croatia Airlines had 1.087.997 passengers on board. Although the volume increased by 95,5 percent compared to the same period last year, it was 36,1 percent below the output it had in the first three quarters of 2019.

During the presentation of the figures, the Star Alliance member also explained that the booking behavior of passengers had changed significantly. Before the Corona pandemic, it would have been more likely to book well in advance. Since the beginning of the crisis, passengers have tended to buy their tickets at very short notice. According to the company, nothing has changed in this regard this year either. Only recently it became known that Croatia Airlines will modernize the fleet with Airbus A220.
